The Lubbock Lake Landmark is a gorgeous cultural, natural and scientific resource right here in Lubbock. Not only does the Landmark have amazing learning experiences, it is also an important research site that offers a mesmerizing glimpse into our deep past.

And it's also an absolutely lovely place to take a leisurely walk- and right now is the best time to view seemingly endless purple basket flowers. With their large, lovely blooms, these flowers are indigenous and gorgeous and a host to beneficial insects like sweet little fuzzy bees.

However, the Landmark is NOT a park, it is a nature preserve, so please leave your dog at home for this one. There's small wildlife and "horse crippler" cactus that could harm your furry friend, and of course you don't want them getting excited and chomping a rare horned lizard.

Enjoy your time at LLL, just be sure to go during open hours,Tuesday through Saturdays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m and Sundays 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. The Landmark is free to the public.
