Lubbock Is Approved for Another Loop in 2019

Gone will be the days when you could just say "The Loop" and everyone would know you were talking about the one and the only Loop 289.

TxDOT has given the go-ahead for Loop 88, which will be "an outer route around Lubbock from US 84 northwest of Lubbock to US 84 southeast of Lubbock."

However, we won't be able to drive Loop 88 in 2019; that's just when the construction is set to start. It was determined to be "feasible" by 2030. The project is still pending an environmental impact study, according to Mayor Dan Pope.
