Lubbock County Commissioners Corley and Seay Held Town Hall Meeting on Friday
Friday evening, over 40 Lubbock County citizens attended a special town hall meeting organized by Lubbock County Commissioner Precinct 2 Jason Corley and Lubbock County Commissioner Precinct 4 Chad Seay.
Commissioners Corley and Seay presented their case for a Fiscal Year 2019-2020 county budget which would have the effective rate be the property tax rate, rather than the current rate ($0.339978 per $100 of taxable value). Keeping the current property tax rate would amount to an average 5%-7% increase because of the increase in property valuations in the county.
Commissioners Seay and Corley also said that through the effective rate, the county would be able to give raises to most non-elected county employees; particularly those making less than $40,000 annually.
Monday, September 9, the Lubbock County Commissioner’s Court is set to vote on the budget and property tax for both the Lubbock County Hospital District and Lubbock County as a whole. The Commissioner's Court meeting starts at 10am at the Lubbock County Courthouse.
