I tend to live my life in phases in that I night spend a couple months at home with my guitar and PS3 and then spend a couple months out and about hittin my favorite bars and venues. After a long sabbatical from the night life I've been out and about lately rollin in the fast lane.
A couple of weeks ago I walked into the 34 O-Bar and that little spot was jumpin! The entire bar packed elbow to a**hole with a rockin band in the back jammin a cover of "Tool's, Sober".  To be honest that was the first time that I had ever heard a band attempt that song and actually pull it off. I found a seat at the bar and listened for while. Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Seether, Black Stone Cherry, Alice in Chains, Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd, and a few originals that really got my attention. Finally! A local band that does what I love. Who are they? "Sober by Sunday" or SXS.

In 2008 ,Leroy and Chad Chestnutt had begun playing as an acoustic duo playing bars in Lubbock. There was no denying the natural chemistry and song writing potential ,so Tobin Noble was added to the line up as a drummer and back up singer. The band was named What Is Written and recorded a 3 song EP that year.
The band was short lived as personnel conflicts sidelined the project. Tobin and Leroy continued and added Zack Cruz as the new drummer and Ben Delgado on Bass. The band is named Sober By Sunday. After 6 months the band is put on hold as Ben graduates TTU and moves to Houston. The band searches for a replacement with no luck. Tobin and Leroy decide to use the down time to go into the studio to record as the search for a bassist continues. Sean Frankhouser, a long time friend of Leroy and well known for being one of the best bassist in the area, is asked to record on the cd. Thus, completing the line up .
The recording was completed in August 2011 and Shelter was released September 2nd. The cd can be purchased on CD Baby.com and at SXS shows. Album downloads available on I-tunes and several other sites.
SXS has opened shows for Jackyl, Taproot, Hurt, 10 Years and Saliva.
