A Lubbock man was pulled over and arrested earlier in September 2020 after his vehicle failed to yield the right of way to a police officer. But it wasn't him driving it.

KAMC News reports the incident occurred the night of September 9th in the 2500 block of Avenue Q. A police report states that 42-year-old Javier Martinez-Aguilar (pictured above) was pulled over, but he wasn’t the one driving the SUV. Instead, the officer found his 13-year-old stepdaughter in the driver’s seat.

Martinez-Aguilar was reportedly intoxicated, and police say he had asked the teenage girl to drive them to go get ice cream.

Martinez-Aguilar was arrested at the scene for criminal negligence and child endangerment and has since posted bail. His stepdaughter’s sister was reportedly called to the scene to take the girl home.
