Lady Gaga Says New Album Lacks Maturity or Sense of Responsibility
Before performing the new piano ballad ‘Princess Die’ in Perth, Lady Gaga prefaced the song by saying that her new album will lack the maturity and sense of responsibility that defined ‘Born This Way.’ She also seemed to reveal that ‘Princess Die‘ will indeed appear on the new album, whereas it was TBD when she first debuted the song.
Sitting at her motorcycle-shaped piano, Gaga addressed the crowd, saying, “I wrote it about a year ago. It’s a very personal song. It’s not about you. It’s about me. This whole thing is about me, oh the vanity of a singer,” with a laugh. She totally isn’t buying her own hype, little monsters! She was being cute and cheeky.
She continued, “So yes, I wrote this song, in a way, it has a bit to do with the rest of the album.” That’s the point where we think she admitted that ‘Die’ is on the follow up to ‘BTW,’ the title of which she will announce in September, since she says it has to do with the rest of the album.
Gaga finished. “Let’s just say I feel, I feel that, when I wrote ‘Born This Way,’ I demonstrated a sense of maturity, and I feel that, on the next album, there’s a lack of maturity. It’s a tremendous lack of maturity or sense of responsibility. This is called ‘Princess Die.’”
A lack of maturity and responsibility? Is Mother Monster turning into Rihanna, who has vehemently opposed the idea of herself as a role model because she is a famous pop star? We doubt it, but it’s an interesting thought. Will Gaga be more frothy and dancey, like ‘The Fame?’ Or was she pulling our legs?
