KISS FM’s Top 5 Latino Artists in Honor of Cinco De Mayo [VIDEO]

Cinco De Mayo is not just a day to drink margaritas and eat el pastor. Actually I had never really celebrated the day until I moved to West Texas. Just what is the day for?

Cinco de Mayo—or the fifth of May—commemorates the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867). It is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, but in the United States Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations.

We in Texas definitely have a large Mexican-American population and I know I have a huge number of Mexican American listeners.

With that in mind here are KISS-FM's Top 5 Latino artist.

Armando Christian Pérez better known by his stage name Pitbull, is an American rapper, pop singer-songwriter and record producer. His debut album in 2004 titled M.I.A.M.I. (short for Money Is a Major Issue) under TVT Records. Since then, he has released two other albums under the label: El Mariel in 2006 and The Boatlift in 2007. He then released Rebelution in 2009, which included singles "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" and "Krazy".

Jenifer Lynn Lopez came to prominence within music after the release of her album On the 6 (1999), which spawned the hit singles "If You Had My Love" and "Waiting for Tonight". Her second album J.Lo (2001) reached number one on the Billboard 200 the same week her film, The Wedding Planner led the box office. She released J to tha L–O! The Remixes (2002), which became the first number-one remix album in the United States; her third and fourth studio albums, This Is Me... Then (2002) and Rebirth (2005) reached number two. In 2007 she released her first full Spanish album, Como ama una Mujer. Returning to music in 2011, she released her seventh album, Love? which spawned her most successful single "On the Floor", one of the best-selling singles of all time.

Enrique Iglesias is a Spanish singer, songwriter and occasional actor, popular in both the Latin market and the Hispanic American market in the United States. Iglesias has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best selling Spanish language artists of all time. Altogether, Iglesias has amassed 55 number-one hits on the various Billboard charts. Billboard has called him The King of Latin Pop and The King of Dance.

Casandra Elizabeth Ventura known professionally as Cassie, is an American recording artist, model, dancer and actress. After being introduced to music producer Ryan Leslie, she was signed to his music-media company, NextSelection Lifestyle Group. Leslie wrote and produced Cassie's first single, "Me & U", which became a major hit in 2006. He convinced Sean "Diddy" Combs to partner his Bad Boy Records with Leslie's NextSelection imprint for the release of her debut album, Cassie, which was released in August 2006. Her second album will be released in 2012.

Paula Dacia DeAnda is a American pop singer-songwriter and actress. She first came to prominence with her first single "Doing Too Much" that became a hit in the Southwest. She then got the opportunity to audition for Clive Davis who signed her to Arista Records on the spot. Her debut album, Paula DeAnda was released in 2006 and contained the Billboard Hot 100 top twenty song, "Walk Away (Remember Me)".
