A parents most dreaded phrase this early in the summer? "I'm Bored!". Summer has just begun and it's going to take forever especially if the kiddos are  already complaining about having nothing to do.

With that in mind, this was one of my favorite things to do as a kid and I thought I would share it with you.

Here is what you are going to need:

    • 1 3-pound coffee can with lid
    • 1 1-pound coffee can with lid
    • 1 pint of 1/2 and 1/2 or you can always use whole milk
    • 1 beaten egg
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla,
    • Some "ice cream" or "rock" salt
    • Duct Tape
    • That is pretty much it for basic vanilla. Now you can come up with all the flavors you want. Add some chocolate syrup to make chocolate ice cream, or a little cookie dough maybe some fresh fruit it's all up to you

First of all make sure your coffee cans are clean. Mix all of your ingredients into a bowl and once mixed pour your mix into the 1 pound coffee can and seal with duct tape. Then place the 1 pound can inside the 3 pound can and pack it full of ice. Pour in a little rock salt and place on the lid.

Let the kiddos roll the can back and fourth until your ice cream is done. You may need to add more ice and salt but trust me it will make the perfect ice cream. Should take about 20 minutes.
