Reaction to J.R. Doporto’s ‘Hilarious’ Facebook Post About Slapping Women [VIDEO]
J.R. Doporto, a city councilperson of Carlsbad, New Mexico, is under fire for recent remarks he made on his personal Facebook account. Here's what he said:
Just want to give a heads up to the women! You have rights! A right to cook and a right to clean. Today is Sunday and the NFL playoffs our [sic] on! I suggest you stop you b!tch!ng [sic]/ protesting during this time. Because you also have the right to get slapped!
There is so much cringe-worthy garbage to address here.
The misuse of or/our particularly makes my eye twitch. Also, you never need that many exclamation points for any reason ever. I wouldn't normally pick someone apart for this. However, this isn't just an elected official being insensitive and obnoxious. He's also being lazy at the least, and at worse a little illiterate.
Grammar sins aside, here's a little video I made in response to Doporto's 'words of wisdom' and his subsequent 'apology.' And it has nothing to do with whether I personally agree with the protests or not.
Update: According to KOB4, Councilman Doporto has been fired from his private job with HollyFrontier Corporation.
