This Man Bought An Entire Texas Town And Transformed It
Imagine buying an entire town and turning it into the ultimate desert hangout. That’s exactly what Jon Jasniak did when he bought Cornudas, Texas, about 50 miles east of El Paso.
Two years ago, Jon, who buys and sells land for a living, shared the bold move on Instagram and teased his vision: a dusty lil’ town turned into a full-blown oasis with live music, food, lodging, and good vibes. In a post shared to his Instagram page, Jon described the small town:
"Located about 1 hour east of El Paso, the property has the historic cafe and gift shop, 6 RV spots, a motel, 3 mobile homes, and one of the only water wells in the area. It all sits on 28 acres of land along US Hwy 62/180 with the Guadalupe Mountains National Park 40 miles to the east."

Cars and Crawfish at Cornudas, Texas:
Cornudas, an unincorporated community in Hudspeth County, might be small, but Jon has big plans. He’s already hosted multiple events out there, and now he’s gearing up for one of the most anticipated yet: the annual Cars and Crawfish Boil happening Saturday, April 11th—and yes, it’s exactly as fun as it sounds.
Food starts around 12PM with crawfish, shrimp, BBQ, and all the fixings (sold by the pound—come hungry)
Car show from 1PM–3PM featuring categories like Best Muscle, Best Classic, Best Bike, and an “Open” category (aka bring whatever cool ride you’ve got)
$1,000 in cash prizes up for grabs, with winners chosen by the people 👀
Live music kicks off at 1PM and keeps the party going all afternoon—and honestly, all night
No fancy car? No problem. There’s no admission fee, just pull up, eat good, and vote for your favorites and there’s even a $5 raffle to win land, with proceeds benefiting the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Department Charity.

The Oasis Outside of El Paso: Cornudas, Texas
According to Wikipedia:
“Cornudas is located near the intersection of Ranch to Market Road 2317 and the concurrent U.S. Highways 62 and 180, 42 miles northwest of the county seat, Sierra Blanca.”
When I saw Jon’s post on Instagram it felt like something straight out of Shitt’s Creek! Looking at his posts online you can tell he takes pride in bringing big events to this small town in hopes of bringing more visitors to the small town of Cornudas.
After watching some of his videos on Instagram and YouTube I am convinced that I have to take a day trip to this small Texas town to see if their BBQ is as good as Jon claims it to be! And hey, next time you’re bored at home why not take a road trip to this small town and enjoy all it has to offer!
