El Paso, Texas Has Some Really Friendly Neighbors
We're pretty friendly and welcoming here in El Paso but a couple of our neighbors really lay on the nice. So much so, they made a "best in Texas" list.
A list of the top 10 most friendly small towns ... emphasis on the word "small" as that's probably why friendly old El Paso didn't make the list ... in Texas was just released and a couple of really cool little towns near El Paso are on it.
Top off the tank, grab some snacks and head east to visit them.
World Atlas just decided who the top 10 most friendly small towns in Texas are and Alpine, Texas is one of them.
What's In Alpine?
Alpine, Texas is about 3 hours from El Paso ... 2.5 if you dribe like me ... and it's loaded with cool things to see and do. (Besides waving and saying howdy to all the friendly Alpine-ians that is.) You can visit Sul Ross University or brush up on the areas history at the Museum of the Big Bend.
Nearby, you'll find historic Fort Davis and the McDonald Observatory. As close as Alpine is to El Paso, it's even closer to its friendly list buddy. Marfa is just 29 miles away.

What's In Marfa?
Marfa is also about 3 hours from El Paso and is a very cool place with a great arts scene, a very laid back vibe and those unexplainable mystery lights. I've actually seen those and they're a trip.
For hundreds of years, tons of people ... including a former NASA engineer who wrote a book about them .... (actually, he wrote 3 books counting these 2.), have tried to figure them out. No luck yet. Marfa also has a teeny little Prada store and a beautiful, haunted AF, hotel - The Paisano.
