With a slew of severe thunderstorms that have plagued our portion of the Permian Basin recently, Big Spring got hit particularly hard.  City officials have taken to the media to talk about what the storm has done and to show the results of the damage.

The City of Big Spring has worked tirelessly through the night to come to the aid of our community,” - Shane Bowles

An assessment of the damage is severe, whereas many businesses may have to close their doors temporarily to begin repairs in the wake of the storm.

According to the National Weather Service, the winds were as high as 119 mph in some areas.  With more rain due to strike in the coming days, we can only hope that more damage will not accumulate.

A video is circulating on TikTok that shows a compilation of a first-hand look at what it is like to drive around Big Spring after the storm has passed.  Broken windows, fallen telephone poles, and other miscellaneous damage can be seen throughout the video.

We are optimistic that the city of Big Spring, Texas, will recover.  However, some of the images shown can be disheartening.
