Surprisingly, Whataburger was the first fast food restaurant in Odessa, Texas, back in 1961. Odessa was the home for the 24th Whataburger in existence and had the iconic classic white and orange A-frame design that many have come to love and remember.
However, that was not the official first restaurant to come to town. The first ever was a place called Furr's Cafeteria that opened in 1947. However, that was a cafeteria-style eatery and NOT a fast food restaurant.
