When you think about winter storms and all the preparations you need to make, watching a movie never crosses your mind...but it should.

No Power Means No Prime

After the 2021 winter storm nightmare, many Texans ventured out and bought a home generator. There is no greater peace than knowing you do not have to worry about being without power. But there is one thing that generators cannot do. They cannot guarantee that your internet/streaming service will stay connected.

You Can Have Your Movies and Watch Them, too!

Odds are you have bought movies online and right now they are sitting in your Prime library. If you have not downloaded them yet, do it today so that

A. You will have them when the storm arrives, BUT

B. You will not actually have ownership of them. If Prime (and many other streaming platforms), lose the right to stream a particular movie, they will remove them from your purchased movies library.

Yes, Amazon Can Remove Movies You Purchased

In 2020, a lawsuit was filed accusing Amazon of misrepresentation during the movie purchase process. According to PCMag.com, on the platform, you are asked if you want to purchase a movie, but the fine print on the confirmation page says, “You receive a license to the video, and you agree to our terms.” Some view this as a bait and switch due to the term “buy” which implies ownership, but in Amazon world, is only a license to watch.
