
Baylor Lockdown Now Over Following Scary Waco, Texas Car Chase
Waco, Texas like many college towns are usually a little bit quieter in the summer than all of the hustle and bustle that occurs during the traditional school year that will begin again in August. Outside of a few summer enrichment programs or incoming freshman orientation events, you can cross Baylor's campus in Waco many summer days and not see another soul.

That was not the case yesterday as the entire campus was alerted to shelter in place following a foot chase as three suspects were fleeing an abandoned vehicle on campus that had been involved in a scary, high speed police chase that originated from an attempted traffic stop on Interstate 35 by a trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
What made Baylor University go into lockdown?
I have personally never been involved with even a lockdown drill, but that is one thing Baylor made abundantly clear in all of their alerts, "This is NOT a drill!" For many, if an alert had not been made, the entirety of the police activity probably would have gone unnoticed, especially if you were farther away on campus.

I remember a friend of mine being interviewed one time about her feelings regarding an incident at her apartment complex, and that is when she found out there had even been police activity. She did comment her surprise it happened in her building because of how secure it is, and that same perspective was shared by several others at Baylor who felt very at ease due to the security measures in place.

How was the lockdown at Baylor University resolved?
According to this KCEN article, at least one of the three suspects were apprehended, and authorities do not believe there is any further danger to the public.
