I’ve lived in the Bell County area most of my life, and I didn’t even realize a town named Zabcikville, located east of Temple, existed. This is one of the cutest little communities I’ve ever seen, and it’s tucked away deep in Bell County. It has a strong Czech heritage, and according to the Texas State Historical Association, the community was named after Jim Zabcik Sr., who was born in 1810 and died in 1881. He was married to Anna Hookah, and together they had two daughters, Joanna and Katrina.

The Zabcik family traveled to Bell County in 1886 with other family members. The family settled in the area, which would later become known as Zabcikville. In 1923, Frank Zabcik purchased a local store and surrounding properties, further establishing the community. A historical marker was eventually placed in the area in 2012 to commemorate its history.

Exploring Zabcikville: Inside Bell County’s Smallest and Quietest Town

When I think about this little community, I think it’s important to recognize how agriculture has long been a foundation of the area. At one time, the community was home to blacksmith shops, automotive repair shops, garages, cafés, general stores, and even a cotton gin. Today, much of that history remains a part of what makes Zabcikville so special.

What Is The Population Of This Tiny City?

The community also continues to embrace its strong Czech heritage, which is an important part of its identity. And when I say this town is tiny, I mean tiny! The last population figure I found was recorded in 2009, when local officials reported just 76 residents. Zabcikville is such a cute little community, and if you get a chance to visit, don’t just drive through it. Take a moment to slow down, appreciate the history, and truly enjoy the heritage of Zabcikville.
