You Could Own A Piece Of Joyland History
Joyland isn't the most joyful place in Lubbock right now. It is an amusement park that sits empty with no opening date. A space that has entertained so many in Lubbock for so many years will soon be gone and what fills that space, no one knows.
According to KAMC, rides are being sold off and taken down. Piece by piece an empty amusement park is becoming even more empty. According to owner David Dean, Joyland will still be around for the year as they had signed a lease with the City of Lubbock until 2047. Dean told KAMC they were hoping the new lease would help new owners, but the new owners pulled out of the deal. According to Dean, he and his family will be around selling off rides and handling the property until December or January.
According to KAMC, the City of Lubbock currently has no plans for the site and Dean isn't sure what will be left when they eventually step away.
While rides are being sold off and taken down, it's very possible that you could own a piece of Joyland through an auction according to KAMC.
Many rides have already been bought and hauled off and there are still plenty waiting to be purchased. Dean says they plan to hold an auction as well for anyone who wants to purchase a piece of Joyland history.
We will keep you up to date on any possible auction that the owners plan on having. Who knows what you could end up with from Joyland.
