Texas Tech’s Tyree Wilson Drafted By The Las Vegas Raiders
Tyree Wilson is no longer a Red Raider as he'll be suiting up in silver and black for the Las Vegas Raiders for years to come. And for Red Raider fans, that could make the rivalry between Kansas City and Las Vegas even more interesting.
The outside linebacker was selected number 7 overall by Las Vegas in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night. Wilson was the third defensive player taken in the draft behind Alabama's Will Anderson who went #3 to Houston and Devon Witherspoon who was taken at #5 by Seattle.
Last season the Las Vegas Raiders only had 27 sacks as a team. They needed a pass rusher and got one of the best in the draft in Wilson. Raiders fans will be hoping to see a little Red Raider vs Red Raider action as Wilson will be lining up attempting to sack former Red Raider Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. That battle will be worth watching for years.
According to KAMC, Tyree Wilson is just the 10th Red Raider selected in the first round of the NFL Draft and there are more Red Raiders hoping to hear their names called in future rounds of this year's draft.
Several other Red Raiders hope to hear their names called over the weekend, including running back SaRodorick Thompson, kicker Trey Wolff, offensive lineman Weston Wright, linebackers Dimitri Moore and Krison Merriweather, and defensive backs Marquis Waters and Adrian Frye.
The NFL Draft continues Friday with the second and third rounds and will end on Saturday with rounds four through seven.
