The Texas Tech Football team is enjoying early season success, but one of their own players spent some time in the Lubbock County Detention Center on Sunday after being arrested early Sunday morning.

Texas Tech Defensive Player Arrested

Texas Tech Defensive Back Amier Campbell Boyd-Matthews was arrested Sunday morning for reckless driving. According to KAMC, Lubbock Police Officers "observed the driver doing donuts early Sunday morning in the intersection of Third Street and Boston Avenue".

Lubbock Police also witnessed someone hanging out of the rear passenger window as Amir was driving.

A Lubbock Police Officer pulled Amir over in the 2800 of 3rd Street. The officer checked Boyd's license and informed him that he would b arrested.

Texas Tech Football To Handle the Incident Internally

According to KAMC, Texas Tech Head Football Coach Joey McGuire told the media that they would be handling the issue internally.

“It’s internal discipline action, we’ll handle it like we have any time in the past. We had a couple before, not many, but we’ll handle it inside.”

Boyd was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on Sunday. He was later able to bond out.
