Texas Man Admits to Consuming Explicit Videos/Photos of Children For Over a Decade

A man was arrested in Ransom Canyon after Texas Rangers found thousands of child sex abuse files on his cell phone, with some content a decade-and-a-half-years old.

According to Everything Lubbock, Jorge Ernesto Rasura, 65, was arrested in Ransom Canyon on Monday after confessing to the explicit material involving children on his phone.

Everything Lubbock also included that court documents say Rasura handed a Texas Ranger his cell phone, but he first confessed to "thousands" of photos and videos containing sexual abuse with children.

The files contained children of all ages ranging from toddlers to teenagers, and Rasura had been viewing the material at least once a day for the past 14 years.

Rasura was arrested and charged with Possession of Child Pornography on Monday. His bond was set at $150,000.

What is the Punishment for Possessing Child Porn in Texas?

First off, you are required by the State of Texas to register as a sex offender for life if you plead guilty to possessing child pornography, according to versustexas.com

They go on to say that punishments for this type of crime can vary, depending on the severity. For instance:

• Possessing fewer than 100 visual depictions of a child is a third-degree felony with 2 to 10 years in prison
• Possessing between 100 and 500 visual depictions is a second-degree felony with 2 to 20 years imprisonment
• Possessing over 500 photos and/or videos of children result in a first-degree felony and a prison sentence of 5 to 99 years

All in all, it's highly advised against to possess this stuff anywhere, let alone in Texas. I really hope I didn't need to write that sentence...
