You've probably noticed over the last few weeks that it's getting darker earlier and earlier in Texas. It's also beginning to get a little cooler outside which you can really feel in the mornings and evenings. And that means seasons are changing and soon the time will as well. Yes, daylight saving time is coming to an end.

Daylight Saving Time Ends on Sunday, November 2

Daylight Saving Time began on March 9th and it ends after a nice Halloween weekend on Sunday, November 2 when we "fall back" an hour and get an "extra hour of sleep". We will stay on Standard time until Sunday, March 8 of 2026 when we Spring Ahead.

Will Texans Have To Change Their Clocks

Yes, Texans will once again change their clocks. According to The Hill, lawmakers across the nation have done a lot of talking about ending the time change, but actually doing something about it? That hasn't happened.

Lawmakers in Congress and nearly every state brought forth legislation this year to end the twice-a-year time change, but only a few were successful. Even in those cases, it remains only Hawaii and Arizona that will not change their clocks on Nov. 2.

While farmers are often blamed for the reason we have a time change, they actually are not the reason. It's always been about saving energy. In 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005 which extended Daylight Saving Time by 4 weeks. That's why it seems as though Daylight Saving Time lasts so long.
