Officers Arrest Anton Teen After Weekend Shooting in Lubbock
An arrest has been made in the case of shooting death that occurred over the weekend. The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 9900 block of North Boston Avenue on Saturday, October 7, at 1:32 a.m. on reports of shots fired. At the scene deputies did discover two men suffering from gunshot wounds later identified as 46-year-old Andrew Mojica and 56-year-old Dicky Ruiz.
Both victims were transported to a Lubbock area hospital, Mojica was treated for his non-life threatening injuries but Ruiz did succumb to his injuries and passed away. The Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit was investigating this incident with the help of the Texas Anti-Gang Center and were able to get a lead on a suspect after asking the public for their help.
A murder warrant was issued on Tuesday, October 10, for 18-year-old Ahdias Stewart of Anton. Stewart was arrested in the 7100 block of West Farm to Market Road 1264 at 7:33 p.m.. As per the publishing of this article, Stewart remains in custody at the Lubbock County Detention on charges of Tampering/Fabricating Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair and Murder. Stewart is being held on a $505,000 bond.
