Have you gotten a call from someone claiming to be with the Lubbock Police Department or other law enforcement agency and they ask you for money to pay a warrant? If so, the Lubbock Police have a message for you. Don't fall for it!
Lubbock Police took to social media on Thursday reminding citizens that they and other law enforcement agencies will not ask you for payment over the phone or gift cards in order to get rid of a warrant. That isn't how things work. But scammers have been using the scam for years now to make money.
As the Lubbock Police wrote, if you get a call or email or letter and it doesn't feel right, just call law enforcement and they will help.
