Lubbock Police were called to a scene early Wednesday that a body was found near North Loop 289 and Interstate 27. Initial reports out on Wednesday said that the man had likely been injured in a hit and run. But Wednesday afternoon, Lubbock Police reported that that wasn't the case. Instead, the man who was found dead was shot.

According to a press release from the Lubbock Police Department, 32-year-old Infant of Davila (his legal name), who was also known as Adrian Davila, was found dead at 3:25am on May 8. According to Lubbock Police the initial report was a hit and run, but a further investigation led to the injuries being consistent with a gun shot.

Lubbock Police were initially called to North Loop and Interstate 27 at 3:25 a.m. on May 8, following an initial report of a hit-and-run with injuries, precipitating a response and investigation by LPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit. However, through preliminary investigation, it was determined the injuries the victim suffered were suspicious, prompting Metro to respond to the scene. Further investigation determined the injuries the victim suffered were consistent with a shooting instead of a hit-and-run resulting in the case being transferred to Metro.
