If you haven't been outside today or since this morning, it's very windy, dusty, and a little dangerous at times to drive around.

The National Weather Service has our area under a High Wind Warning until 6 p.m. and high winds are expected all the way up into the Panhandle. So if you are driving from Lubbock to Amarillo or Amarillo to Lubbock, driving conditions could be hazardous at times due to high winds and blowing dirt.

The Panhandle has already seen accidents and dust storms according to News Channel 10 out of Amarillo.

Wind gusts in the Lubbock area should top out at around 65 mph and in some places we have gotten close. The Lubbock airport recorded a wind gust of 63 mph earlier today.

Today won't be our only day of high wind in the Lubbock area with high wind as Wednesday's forecast calls for a windy day with partly cloudy skies and highs around 62 degrees. Thursday, we will see temps fall with highs only in the 40's.

The good news? It should be nice this weekend.
