All good things must come to an end and that means that this week is the last week of the Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase until next year. I love being able to show off many of the local Lubbock, and surrounding, area artists along with their talents so here we go.

Hello, Good-bye

This week the very talented Phlip Coggins will be closing out the Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase concert series.  I decided that I would just deep dive into the music to enjoy this journey of music and Phlip was just the way to end the Summer. Phlip has ties to both Lubbock and Austin and you can tell just from the way that he plays and carries himself that he takes inspiration from the world around him.

Just To Be Here

I jumped right into a journey across the sands of time while listening to the song Wellspring (Just To Be Here) from Phlip as he performed it live while in White Sands, New Mexico. Phlips voice has this sort of soothing tune to it that makes you feel like you're hiding from the sun under a nice shaded tree. I almost lost myself in the song as I sort of had this feeling of being in the Lubbock corn maze on a warm sunny day but with a cool breeze.

The Details

Phlip Coggins will play from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase, located in the Meadows Courtyard at the Buddy Holly Center. Chairs, picnic blankets, pets, outside food and beverages are not allowed but Texas Mac Shack food truck will be there selling food and drinks. Admission is free to the public and there will be plenty of activities for kids. More information about Phlip Coggins can be found on his social media page and his music on YouTube.
