Chevron’s 145-Year California Legacy Ends with Move to Texas
Chevron Corporation has recently announced that they will be moving their headquarters from Ramon, California to Houston after opening their doors on the west coast for the first time in 1879.
This massive decision comes after California filed a lawsuit against the oil giant in 2023 regarding the company's attitude toward fossil fuels.
California Sues Chevron
The Golden State filed complaints to Chevron and other oil companies for their failure to address fossil fuel production and its ties to climate change.
According to the state, Chevron, along with four other oil companies: BP, ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil and Shell, has intentionally covered up information since the 1970s that they withheld from the public.
California sought recovery payments from each of the five companies to be applied to future "damage of human-caused climate change", according to details on the lawsuit from CNBC.
