The City of Lubbock has revealed who will kick off the annual Summer Showcase Concert Series at the Buddy Holly Center this year. So, mark your calendars!

2026 Lubbock Summer Showcase Concert

If you are a fan of listening to local bands and artists, then this concert is for you! From Thursday, May 21, all the way to August 13, the 2026 Summer Showcase Concert Series will be held in the Meadows Courtyard.

That's right, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Thursday evening, the city will be spotlighting local talent for anyone interested in and around Lubbock.

There are some things to keep in mind, however. First, outside food is allowed, but guests are not allowed to bring drinks to the concert. Other items that are not allowed through the gates are chairs, picnic blankets, and other similar things.

The best part? Admission is free! Just know that seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Who is Kicking Off the Summer Showcase?

The Buddy Holly Center is proud to announce the two artists lined up to start things off on Thursday: Mark Wallney and Darren Welch.

Who is Mark Wallney?

Mark Wallney is a Chicago-native acoustic/folk artist who has been professionally playing for four decades. A true guitar master right here in Lubbock, Wallney has shared the stage with some of music's biggest names, such as James Brown, Christopher Cross, Billy Bob Thornton, and many more.

Who is Darren Welch?

Darren Welch has been playing with Wallney for over 20 years. Notable artists and bands that Welch has opened for throughout his musical journey are Scorpions, Alice Cooper, and Eric Johnson.
