Texas Buc-ee’s Employees Work in a Hurricane
As I'm sure you're aware, the Texas coast is dealing with Hurricane Beryl right now. It's already knocked out power all over the place and property is being damaged at an alarming rate.
But, I guess the gas must flow...
I saw this post on X (formerly Twitter) where user Jonathan Petramala said, "These #bucees employees in Freeport, TX, earning their paycheck, re-wrapping gas station pumps in the outer eyewall of #HurricaneBeryl Still open for business too! #txwx
@bclemms"
Even during a hurricane the size of Beryl, Buc-ee's ain't about to shut down...not even at the risk of their employee's lives! Honestly, I don't think they were at SEVERE risk of dying, but it's still dangerous!
This is a SERIOUS storm that's already killed two and caused millions upon millions of dollars in damages to infrastructure, homes, vehicles and businesses.
Beryl made landfall along the Texas coast as a Category 1 storm early Monday, unleashing a barrage of severe weather as it moved inland before weakening into a tropical storm still capable of widespread damage.
Through the morning much of eastern Texas was inundated with "life-threatening storm surge," torrential rain and powerful wind gusts of up to 84 mph in the Houston area, the National Hurricane Center said. The dangerous conditions prompted rescue operations, disrupted hundreds of flights, left more than 2 million people without power and caused at least two deaths.
Here's something I read that I've never even considered as a possible danger during a natural disaster...generators. The hurricane center warned of deadly hazards from "downed power lines and carbon monoxide poisoning from improper generator use.''
