Lubbock’s 9th Annual Veterans Day Parade: A Day Of Gratitude
This Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 10am, Lubbock will come alive with pride, patriotism and gratitude as Los Hermanos Familia hosts the 9th Annual Veterans Day Parade. This event is a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving our country, and everyone is invited to join in the celebration!
Did you know that there are around 19 million veterans in the U.S., representing less than 10% of the adult population? Currently, only 1% of Americans serve in the military. These statistics remind us how crucial it is to honor those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.
The theme for this year's parade is “I Pledge Allegiance,” highlighting the generations of families that continue to serve our nation with dignity and pride.
The parade will kick off at First Baptist Church, located at Broadway and Avenue W, and will proceed east on Broadway to Avenue M, where it will then head north. Veterans, their family members, marching bands, floats, and community members are encouraged to participate and show their support.
The 2024 Grand Marshall is retired Fire Chief/Marine, Shaun Fogerson! Fogerson's tenure at Lubbock Fire Rescue started in 1992 while he was also serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1988 to 1996, having been deployed during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Fogerson quickly rose through the ranks of LFR, being promoted to equipment operator in 1999, lieutenant in 2002, captain in 2008, battalion chief in 2012, and deputy chief in 2015. In 2019, Fogerson was appointed fire chief of LFR.
He retired on May 3, 2024, after 31 years of service to the City of Lubbock
This is a fantastic opportunity to come together as a community and pay tribute to our veterans and their families. Your presence matters, and it’s a chance to express gratitude for the sacrifices made on our behalf. Let’s make this Veterans Day Parade an unforgettable celebration of honor, respect, and unity in Lubbock!
