Shreveport Rouxgaroux Football Player Arrested Downtown

Right before 3am on Sunday morning SPD got flagged down on Commerce Street in Downtown Shreveport. The owner of the nightclub told Police that someone was trying to get in the club from the back door and wanted him to be removed from the property.

Police approached Deron Maxwell and told him to leave multiple times, but Maxwell got combative and aggressive with SPD. Police tried to peacefully escort him off the property, but Maxwell pushed an Officer, prompting Police to take it to the ground.

During the struggle Maxwell tried pulling an Officer's gun from it's holster. Thankfully another Officer showed up to assist and was able to get Maxwell to turn the gun loose.

SPD was then able to get Maxwell under control and arrest him.

Deron Maxwell of the Shreveport Arena Football Team "Rouxgaroux" was charged with the following:

· Entering and remaining after being forbidden

· Resisting an officer with force or violence

· Battery of a police officer

· Attempted disarming of a police officer
