Shreveport Police Seeking Suspect in Downtown Shooting

In the early morning hours of Christmas Eve, Shreveport Police Department Uniformed Patrol Officers responded to a shooting on Spring Street.

When SPD got to the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach. The victim was immediately transported to the hospital for treatment.

Investigations showed that the victim was on the patio area of Josh Lounge in Downtown Shreveport with several other individuals when a physical altercation broke out between the victim and another person. During the encounter, the suspect pulled a gun and shot the victim once in the stomach before fleeing the scene.

Through continued investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Mario Jackson. Investigators obtained arrest warrants for Jackson on the following charges:

• Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities

• Possession of a Firearm or Carrying a Concealed Weapon by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies

• Possession of a Firearm on the Premises of an Alcoholic Beverage Outlet

Mario Jackson is considered armed and dangerous, and detectives are actively searching for his whereabouts.
