The Never Ending Name Change Game in Amarillo for Local Apartments

Apartment life is something I think we all get to experience at some point in life. There is good and bad that go with it. I mean you have maintenance. That is nice. Someone who will come fix your stuff when it breaks.

You don't have to mow the lawn. That is nice. So a lot of people decide that is the way to go. I get it. You also have to deal with neighbors. Which I think is the biggest headache about apartment living. Especially if you get noisy ones living upstairs. So apartment living has its pros and cons.

We have a lot of apartments here in Amarillo and many new ones going up all of the time. The ones that have been here forever sometimes go under changes. They get a facelift. They get ownership change. Sometimes they even change names.

Back in the late nineties, I lived in Westgate Manor on Coulter. Those at some point have gone through some of the above. They are now called Coulter Landing. I found that out when I had a co-worker move in there.

Living in the area of Georgia Street now I have watched one apartment complex go through a lot of changes. Back when my daughter was in high school she had some friends who lived at Sungate Apartments on Virginia Circle.

She has not even been out of school ten years yet and they are already going through their third name change in that time. They went from Sungate and then got a name change and were known as Oakridge Apartments.

They did get a facelift to go with it. They needed an image change. I don't know if that has helped. Back in June, they were in that flood area. Being close to Paramount Street they had it bad.

A lot of people had to evacuate. Some stayed. If you left then there were vehicles set up in the Market Street location to help you back to get access to your belongings. So to know they had a lot of damage is an understatement. We had a storage unit right across the street.

So we got a close-up view of all the water and all of the damage. So it was no surprise to see that they were getting some work done again. All of this work is coming with another name change.

Introducing La Jolla Apartments. I have been to La Jolla several times when my sister was living in the San Diego area. This doesn't look like California but I do applaud the hard work being put in.
