This Tiny Town Hides One of the Most Haunted Places in Texas
Yorktown, Texas: population not even 2,000; it doesn’t look like the kind of place that would be crawling with ghosts. It’s one of those blink-and-you ’ll-miss-it towns where the gas station also sells kolaches.
But here’s the truth about this tiny Texas town: beneath all that quiet small-town charm, there’s a building that’s anything but calm.
People say the Yorktown Memorial Hospital isn’t just haunted: it’s one of the most haunted places on Earth. Honestly, after reading what’s gone down inside, I’m not arguing.
Built to Heal, Destined for Hauntings
The hospital opened in 1951, run by the Felician Sisters of the Roman Catholic Church. For the next 30 years, nearly 2,000 people took their last breath inside those walls, but by 1986, the hospital shut down.
It briefly became a rehab facility but closed in 1992, and after that, the building was left to rot. Now it sits there, run down, frozen in time, and filled with paranormal activity.
People Swear It’s Still Alive
Locals tell stories of whispers through the halls, wheelchairs moving on their own, and cold spots that hit you out of nowhere. Paranormal teams like Ghost Adventures and Destination Fear have filmed there, and every single one of them left saying the same thing: something inside that hospital doesn’t want to be forgotten.

Want to Go In?
If you’ve got nerves of steel, the current owners actually host overnight investigations.
People come from all over the country just to step inside, hoping to catch a glimpse of activity from the other side. The hospital may have stopped saving lives decades ago…but it’s still very much alive.
