Beyoncé's Flying Car Malfunctions Mid-Performance in Houston
Prop issue pauses “16 Carriages” during Cowboy Carter Tour stop
Beyonce’s homecoming performance at Houston’s NRG Stadium took an unexpected turn during her first show of the Cowboy Carter Tour weekend.
Midway through her performance of “16 Carriages,” Beyonce was suspended above the crowd in her red flying car prop when the platform suddenly stopped mid-air. The artist could be seen tightly holding onto a safety cable and calmly repeating, “Stop. Stop. Stop.”
The iconic red car, part of the theatrical production, appeared to experience a technical issue that halted everything.
Beyonce remained composed as the prop slowly descended to the stage. She exited the platform safely and continued the remainder of the performance without further interruption.
No injuries were reported. Fan videos from the moment quickly began circulating online, many showing the crowd watching quietly as the moment unfolded. “I want to thank y’all for loving me,” Beyoncé said to the crowd. “If ever I fall, I know y’all would catch me.”
Fans in attendance praised Beyonce’s professionalism and calm response during the unexpected technical issue. The rest of the show continued as scheduled, including performances of “Texas Hold ’Em,” “Sweet Honey Buckin’,” and “Ya Ya.”
A statement from Beyonce's team was posted to Instagram:
"Tonight in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyonce uses to circle the stadium and see her fans up close, to tilt. She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident."
