A Lufkin Player Just Won $1 Million in the Texas Lottery
Someone in Lufkin just became $1 million richer thanks to the Texas Lottery. Well, okay, probably not $1 million after Uncle Sam took his share. But still, you would never hear me complain about the taxes after hitting a jackpot.
Then again, in order to win the lottery, you must play it. And while I consider myself a pretty lucky person in many aspects of life, I’m not all that lucky when it comes to gambling. That’s why I rarely buy a lottery ticket.

However, the subject of today’s story is quite lucky. The player hit it big with a scratch-off in the 500X game, according to a press release. The jackpot-winning ticket was bought at Kwick Korner Food Mart, located at 203 S. Timberland Drive, in Lufkin. As usual, the winner chose to remain anonymous.
If you’re willing to throw down $50 on a ticket, you could be the next millionaire with the game. So far, 13 of 15 $1 million jackpot-winning tickets have been claimed. In addition, there are still 14 $25,000 winning tickets that have yet to be claimed.
The Texas Lottery will pay out a total of more than $229 million in the 500X game. The overall odds of getting a winning ticket in the game are one in 3.36, including break-even prizes.
Aside from awarding billions of dollars in prizes to players since its inception in 1992, the Texas Lottery has also given billions of dollars to support education in the Lone Star State, as well as Texas veterans.
