A woman claims her child was injured while riding a water slide in town.

Just a few days ago, it was the two year anniversary of a 13-year-old getting injured at Castaway Cove Waterpark here in Wichita Falls. Several outlets at the time reported that the boy fell off the Cliffhanger ride. He fell several feet onto the ground landing in grass/mud below the ride. Wichita Falls police said the boy was alert and talking after the incident. Now two years later, the boy's mother is speaking out as to what actually happened that day.

The steep entry onto the slide surface provides riders with the thrill of “Free Falling”. They then experience the force of “Zero Gravity” while oscillating through the valley to the other face of the slide."

Wichita Falls Mother Claims Employee Caused Her Son's Injury

Jennifer Tracy claims she saw the incident happen on June 30, 2023. She said her son went to ride Cliffhanger, but became scared when he looked over the edge sitting on the tube. He did not want to ride the slide, but the employee allegedly pushed the tube down anyway. Jennifer's son then grabbed a nearby rail to not go down. He slipped off the slide and was left dangling off the forty foot high drop. He eventually slipped off the rail and landed in the grass/mud area below the slide.

Wichita Falls Family Seeking Compensation Over Son's Injuries

According to KAUZ, Jennifer is suing the city of Wichita Falls for damages. Wichita Falls has owned the water park since 2010. She is suing for medical expenses, physical impairment and disfigurement of her child, emotional distress and loss of normal family enjoyment. The family is seeking between $250,000 and $1 million. We will wait and see what happens with this case.
