Did you know one of our local weathermen was in this movie back in the day?

Looks like this year is the 20th anniversary of 'Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan'. It was one of the biggest comedies of the 2000's racking up over 260 million dollars at the box office. Turns out our very own Ken Johnson at KAUZ was in the movie when he was working in Mississippi.

Borat Crashes Local News Segment

So according to the news team, they were told 'Borat' was making a documentary on journalism for Kazakhstan and he wanted to see how journalists reported news in the United States. An interview was done with Brad McMullan and afterwards, Borat walks over to the weather monitor and interrupts the live broadcast with our very own Ken Johnson. By the way, Brad claims the live TV broadcast has about two more minutes of Borat that never made the film.

Ken Johnson Still Gets Residual Checks from Appearing in Borat

Ken shared a check he received for appearing in the movie for just over $135 this week. According to an interview with the news reporter Brad McMullan, he gets a check like the one above three or four times a year. Very nice!

Fun Fact, The Driving Instructor Taught Many of My Friends How to Drive

So when Borat gets a driving lesson that was done in Maryland. The reason I know is because in 2006 I was just getting my driver's license. When my friends and I saw the movie a few of them were freaking out because the guy that taught Borat how to drive also taught them. Many of my friends went back to the driving school to snap a photo with him for their Myspace page back in the day.
