Felony Arrests In Angelina County June 16th – 22nd
Two current inmates of the Angelina County Jail made the local news when they were arrested. Though they were very different crimes, both are now incarcerated because of their actions.
Livingston Woman Found With 33 Grams Of Meth
On Thursday, June 20, 2024, Angelina County DPS pulled Tammy Shutter over for a traffic violation around 11:18 PM on HWY 103. According to the DPS report, the trooper conducted a search and found 33 grams of what he thought was meth.
Tammy Shutter of Livingston, Texas is currently in the Angelina County Jail on a first-degree felony drug charge. If she is found guilty, Shutter, 53 would be sentenced to between 5 and 99 years in prison and a $10,000 fine according to state law.
Her bond has been set at $100,000.

Lufkin Man Charged With Hitting Woman With Vehicle
After a hit and run in Lufkin, police began a search with nothing more to go on than a license plate, door handle, and a mirror. The Lufkin Police Department located the vehicle in the 400 Block of South Bynum according to the Lufkin Daily News.
Witnesses identified Jorge Belmonte, 30 of Lufkin, Texas as the vehicle's driver. He allegedly injured a woman with his car and did not stop to help.
The victim and a white tow truck were both hit according to police. The tow truck was helping the woman who had locked her keys in her car.
She sustained road rash and a split lip. Belmonte is on an immigration hold and has a bond set at $15,000.
