Texas Renaissance Festival, The Largest In The U.S., Faces Court Ordered Sale
The Texas Renaissance Festival, the largest Renaissance-themed event in the nation, is now facing a court-ordered sale after a Texas judge sided with prospective buyers in a legal dispute.
Why Is The Texas Renaissance Festival Being Forced To Sell?
According to Houston Public Media, the judge is pushing forward a previously agreed-upon sale that the Texas Renaissance Festival (TRF) failed in "complying with their closing obligations."

The prospective buyers and TRF had previously agreed on a $60 million deal in 2023 that would include the festival grounds, adjacent property, and TRF's assets. The judge ruled that TRF failed to hold up its end of the bargain, and therefore, the sale must continue.
Additionally, the judge ordered TRF to pay $22 million for damages and $1 million for legal fees.
Is The Texas Renaissance Festival Cancelled For 2025?
Not according to TRF, who has stated that the festival will "deliver a safe, vibrant, and memorable experience for the hundreds of thousands of guests who visit each year," for the 2025 season.

Tickets for the 51st annual event are already on sale, too. Over half a million people attended the festival last year. This year, the festival will run on weekends from October 11th through November 30th and on Thanksgiving Friday.
What Makes The Texas Renaissance Festival Special?
Beyond the massive scale and long-running history of the festival, the TRF has also been the subject of a documentary series on HBO, "Ren Faire".
The festival also offers themed weekends to suit your taste, including an Oktoberfest weekend, a Halloween weekend, and other fun themes like Barbarians, Pirates, and a Celtic Christmas.
