Majestic! Budweiser Clydesdales Are Coming To Lubbock For A Great Cause
The most famous, majestic, and biggest (well, okay, Shires are slightly larger) horses in the world are coming soon to Lubbock- for a very special cause.
The Budweiser Clydesdales, who have attended many sporting and cultural events and starred in several Superbowl commercials, are appearing in Lubbock on September 25th and 26th at multiple United Supermarkets.

They will also appear on September 27th at Standard Sales, hitched to the famous red beer wagon, and before the Cincinnati Bearcats/ Texas Tech home game, at the Green Space West of Jones AT&T Stadium on September 28th.
All appearances are weather permitting- no need to spook the horses with our signature September thunderstorms, although as of now the extended forecast seems perfectly sunny.
The horses are not just coming to impress us with their beauty (although that will surely happen). They are coming in support of a fantastic cause: Folds of Honor.
Folds of Honor has awarded over 52,000 scholarships totaling over $240 million to the spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members.

Folds of Honor has recently expanded also to include the spouses and children of fallen and disabled first responders including police, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics.
Some fun Budweiser Clydesdales facts!
The have an exact appearance standard:
Horses chosen for the Budweiser Clydesdale hitch must be at least three years of age, stand approximately 18 hands – or six feet – at the shoulder, weigh an average of 2,000 pounds, must be bay in color, have four white legs, and a blaze of white on the face and black mane and tail. A gentle temperament is very important as hitch horses meet millions of people each year.
They eat- A LOT:
A single Clydesdale hitch horse will consume as much as 20-25 quarts of feed, 40-50 pounds of hay and 30 gallons of water per day.
They have a special friend:
Each hitch travels with a Dalmatian. In the early days of brewing, Dalmatians were bred and trained to protect the horses and guard the wagon when the driver went inside to make deliveries.
