If you hang out on the internet, and I know you do, you're bound to have come across more than one person taking a shot at Lubbock. It's usually somebody who had a bad experience and decided to write us off altogether. The thing is, those types of people aren't exactly fully qualified to give a review of the city that speaks for the rest of us.

We aren't perfect. Nobody would say we are. But there are several things we catch flak for over and over again, and they really aren't as bad as people make them out to be.

Oh, come on! This one always makes me laugh.

Concerts, comedy shows, breweries, escape rooms, museums, parks, college sports, bar life, festivals, golf tournaments, bowling, restaurants for days...

That's just lazy criticism right there.

We've got amazing food and plenty of options. Lubbock loves to eat!

That's probably one of our strengths. Big enough to matter to the rest of the world and small enough not to be bothered much. I see no issues.

Lubbock isn't trying to be anything but what it is, a city full of people doing their best to raise their families right, enjoy their lives, and retire with a little extra cash to travel the world in an RV. What's so wrong with that?

Sure, we've got problems, but at the end of the day, this is home. If you don't like something, be part of the solution instead of complaining. You just might make a difference.
