Have You Ever Been To The Oldest Bakery In Texas?
Naegelin's Bakery in New Braunfels has been serving up delicious baked goods since 1868, making it the oldest bakery on record in the state of Texas. The bakery serves all of our Texas favorites like kolaches, strudel, sweet rolls, danishes, cakes, various breads, and tortillas, among a slew of other yummy treats.
According to their website, it all began with Edouard Naegelin, a man that arrived in New Braunfels, at the young age of 24, with a sack of flour and less than a dollar to his name. The historic bakery has become a bucket list staple of Texas cuisine and is an incredible example of the American dream.
The bakery has been handed down over generations and it's just as busy today as ever. The menu online looks absolutely incredible. It's no wonder they've done so well! They've been covered by Texas Living, The Texas Bucket List, Atlas Obscura, and many other notable media sources, and have been praised across the internet high and low. In fact, I couldn't find a single bad review. Very impressive.
It's time to ditch the low-carb diet and take a trip to the oldest baker in Texas! I've just gotta gas up my ride and skip town. Who needs a job anyway? Give me a shout when you're ready to go, I'll be out front, waiting in my car!
