Lubbock Parents Are Finding Joy Just 40 Minutes Away
Summer’s Here—So Why Not Cool Off in Brownfield, Texas?
If you’ve got kids and you’re looking for a great way to beat the West Texas heat, it might be time for a short road trip—specifically to Brownfield, Texas.
Now, let’s get this out of the way: Lubbock, what happened? At some point, the city government decided to punt on quality-of-life issues, and nowhere is that more obvious than in the complete lack of public pools. For a town this size, that’s just plain sad—especially for those of us who spent childhood summers soaking in community pools.
Which brings us to Brownfield—the unexpected summer MVP. A growing number of Lubbock parents have been packing up the kids and making the short drive to the Brownfield Aquatic Center, and for good reason.

The pool is open to both residents and non-residents, so yes—Lubbock folks are welcome.
