43 People With Murder Charges in Lubbock County Detention Center
Imagine waiting weeks, months, or even years to know your fate- life in prison, life on the outside- or even death row.
That's exactly the limbo that 43 people are experiencing at the Lubbock County Detention Center (LCDC). They are all being held on charges of murder or manslaughter.
While some folks have departed LCDC, either for prison or for a mental health facility, still others remain. And there have been a few new faces since we last brought you this list.
Weirdly, there are now two individuals in LCDC named Xavier Garcia who are both charged with murder. What are the odds?

As a reminder: every single one of these people is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. There may be extenuating circumstances or mitigating factors, or they could be completely innocent. It's for the courts to decide.
LDCD's jail roster is public information, including mugshots, charges, and bond amounts. I have sifted through the data to bring you only those charged with the most serious crimes- murder and manslaughter.

The potential punishment for these crimes, if these folks are found guilty, depends on the "degree" of the crime. Capital murder is the only type eligible for the death penalty.
1st-degree murder is punishable by 5 to 99 years (or life). 2nd degree "sudden passion" is 2 to 20 years. Manslaughter has the same penalty range as second-degree murder.
Time will tell what, if any, prison time these suspects serve.
