How USPS Trains Mail Carriers for Dog Encounters

In Tyler, postal workers have scanners that alert them to potential dog hazards before arriving at an address, which helps. Mail carriers also receive training through Carrier Academy, where they are provided with satchels and dog spray to protect themselves while on the job.

While USPS continues to invest in training and technology, homeowners need to do their part in making sure everyone stays safe. Awareness from mail carriers and pet owners is vital to reducing injuries and keeping both humans and animals safe in the future.

So, make sure you’re doing everything possible so your mail carrier can safely deliver any mail and packages to your house without facing injuries. The last thing anyone wants is to have a preventable injury take place, especially while people are just trying to get their job done.
