Heads Up, Haughton: Get Ready for a Total Road Closure on LA 3227
Haughton drivers just need to keep reminding themselves, "I've only got to deal with this until March and then things will be so much nicer."
In the latest notification from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, there's good news and some "challenging" news.
The good news comes in a pair of driver alerts.
First off, DOTD has just announced that progress is continuing on Phase 2 of the $6.5 million project to build a new section of LA 3227 and realign its intersection with LA 157 in the Town of Haughton.
And secondly, drivers will be excited to learn that the previous closure of Delacroix Street at LA 3227 is now back open to traffic.
Now, the "challenging" part of the advisement: Beginning this coming Monday, October 13, LA 3227, between Aqua Drive and Delacroix Street, will close to allow the contractor to remove the old portion of LA 3227 and tie it in with the newly constructed section.
DOTD advises that this is a total road closure at the specified location. All vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.

Motorists will be detoured via US 80, LA 164, and LA 3227. Access to Delacroix Street from LA 3227 will also be maintained
Once LA 3227 reopens in March 2026, the existing intersection at LA 157 will shift to right-in/right-out only. Motorists wish to travel south on LA 157 will need to proceed to the new intersection located just south of the Pilot Truck Stop.
The traffic signal will be moved from its current location to the new LA 3227/LA 157 intersection.
Of course, the scheduled completion in Spring 2026 is contingent upon a number of variables including weather. Extended inclement weather could delay, extend or alter in other ways the completion.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
