School Zones Are Back: Drive Safe and Avoid Costly Fines
It's time for our kids to go back to school! Kids are back in session for the Victoria Independent School District (VISD) on Wednesday, August 12. So now would be the perfect time for a little reminder of just how much a fine in a school zone will cost you.
Not stopping for a bus WILL COST YOU!
This one is very important! If you fail to stop for a school bus that is loading and/or unloading children, it is $810! All fees listed are courtesy of the City of Victoria Municipal Court.
How much will a school zone cost you in Victoria?
The base fine for a citation being issued in a school zone is $305. This is for anyone speeding 1-20 mph over the speed limit in a school zone. Anyone caught speeding 21+ mph over will pay $305 plus $3 for each additional mile. If you are caught on your mobile device in a school zone, you will be fined $330. All fees listed are courtesy of City of Victoria Municipal Court.
Be sure you allow extra time for your morning commute.
For at least the first couple of weeks of school, leave the house a little earlier. Especially if there are school zones in the morning routine. Also be aware that the police department will be actively monitoring.
