
TxDOT Kicks Off Major Drainage Upgrades In Deep East Texas
The Lufkin District of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is advising motorists in Deep East Texas of a project to improve drainage and replace aging infrastructure at eight locations throughout the Pineywoods.
Here's The Timeline For This New Project
This work is expected to begin this week and is forecast to be completed by late winter or early spring 2026, weather permitting.
Frisco, Texas-based contractor Icos Management, LLC., will replace eight culverts in seven counties. The replacements will be done one at a time. Traffic control will be implemented at each site before the work begins.

These Eight Culverts Will Be Replaced
- FM 1818 at Biloxi Creek in Angelina County, between FM 58 and Hines Road.
- FM 2021 at Crawford Creek, in Central, between Ransom Brown Road and Highway 103
- FM 228 at Crawford Creek west of the Percilla community in Houston County
- State Highway 21 at Maddox Creek between FM 330 and FM 3448 in Sabine County
- US Highway 96 between FM 1277 and State Highway 147 in Sabine County
- FM 222 between State Highway 150 and the Camilla Community in San Jacinto County
- State Highway 87 between Loop 500 and FM 414 in Shelby County
- FM 3188 in Trinity County
Drivers are encouraged to slow down, watch for workers and equipment, and obey all traffic control in these areas.
TxDOT in Lufkin also recently announced a two-year project that would affect motorists traveling around Loop 287 West, near Southwood Drive. This project is designed to increase safety for drivers accessing Business 59 in that area.
