The Houston Astros' power surge continued as they cut loose with four home runs at Coors Field in Denver, scoring an 8-4 win over the Colorado Rockies Wednesday.

It was generally Houston’s youth movement that provided the pop.

Carlos Correa, playing in his ninth game in the majors, crushed his third homer -- a two-run shot off Colorado starter Kyle Kendrick (2-9). Preston Tucker, Jake Marisnick, and Chris Carter also went deep.

"Those young kids were just hacking," Kendrick said. "[Correa] put a good swing on it, and it's hard to set those guys up like that. It was a ball off the plate, and he found a way to put the barrel on it."

Kendrick, who also offered up the Tucker home run ball, gave up seven hits and four earned runs in five innings has now given up a major-league high 18 gopher balls this season.

As a team Houston has hit 95 long balls in 67 games and 12 in their past four outings.

"It's fun," Tucker said. "I think we're excited to get back in there and get another at-bat. Everyone felt confident today, and the last couple of days we've been swinging the bats well. We're going to go at it tomorrow and try to do the same things."

The Rockies had two-hit games form Charlie Blackmon, Troy Tulowitzski, and Nolan Arenado, who each had a double among their two hits.

Astro starter Brett Oberholtzer (2-1) allowed three earned runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings. Three middle relievers, Josh Fields, Joe Thatcher, and Pat Neshek combined for a perfect 1.1 inning. Chad Qualls gave up a second-deck solo homer to Carlos Gonzales in the ninth.

"It's tough because I think we're a better team than the way we're playing right now," Gonzales said. "We're playing against a young team who is ready to hack. When you get close in the game, for some reason they come back and hit another home run."

"Obie has done well the last couple of starts," said Houston manger A.J. Hinch. "He gives us a different look in the rotation. His fastball, change up combo is good. A second lefty pitching well could be nice to have."

The Astros will try to complete the four-game sweep of the Rockies Thursday with a first pitch slated for 2:10 p.m. CDT.

The pitching matchup shapes up to be Collin McHugh( 6-3, 5.08 ERA) for Houston and  the Rockies will send David Hale (2-1, 4.56) to the mound.

You can hear the game on Sports Radio 1340 The Fan beginning with Astro’s Launch at 1:45 p.m.
